Huh?

Okay, someone tell me how Google changed their rating so that I now have more of a Google Rating than [livejournal.com profile] theferrett. Seriously. I have a 5, he has a 4, and my girlfriend's web design page has nothing. Google keeps retooling their PageRank to the point where it means almost nothing....

Not that I'm complaining about being a 5, mind you...

((EDIT: HAHAHAHahahaha...ha..ha...*sigh* Of course, the moment I say anything they switch it around again, and suddenly I find myself with NOTHING. Guess I shouldn't have tempted the Almighty Google. Literally, it's an hour later, and my PageRank shows ranks for other pages, a zero for me, and a three for the web design page that I showed. That's what I get for opening up my big fat mouth. *smiles*))

((POST EDIT: I have no idea what's going on. I removed the link to Google, and suddenly my rank shows back up. I'm not going to update this again, even if I suddenly have a 10. It's just really weird.))

[livejournal.com profile] theferrett complained about this - LJ recently changed the format of our URLs so that where once you would have been http://www.livejournal.com/users/jfargo if you had an unpaid account, or http://jfargo.livejournal.com and http://www.livejournal.com/users/jfargo if you had a paid account. Now, everyone has their own subdomain

Most of the links to [livejournal.com profile] theferrett's LJ were to the /users/theferrett URL according to him.

See, the thing I forgot to mention was that the web design page that I reference used to have a 4, and it dropped to 0 overnight. Google's been talking about how they were going to change their rating system in a year or so, but it seems they've done it quicker.

Or maybe there's something else going on.

But yeah, I felt really bad for [livejournal.com profile] theferrett when they changed the links. He was cool - he had a 6!

5's pretty sweet, mind you :-) I get a three.

How can you find out? I am not cool.

The easiest way I know is to get a Google toolbar, and it has a little "PageRank" icon on it, showing you how important the sites you visit are according to google. It also has little things you can put on like a good search bar, and some features that I don't use beyond that. It's handy for finding out how cool you are, but beyond that I don't use it for much.

For some reason it appears that your Google rating is a zero. It's just another thing I can point at and go "I have no clue what they're basing this on." Sorry to pass on the bad news...not that it actually means anything.

Yeah, somehow...I think I'll be just fine. :)

Somehow, I figured you would be. ;)

Don't worry Kimmaline, you're still cool in my eyes, and my mommy thinks I'm cool!

Ignore my "zero" comment...my PageRank doesn't seem to be working at the moment, strangely.
