My mother always said, "Tell me who your friends are, and I'll tell you who you are." I've found, over a long amount of time where I thought she was just batty, that my mother was right. You friends tell something very important about you, so I'm going to tell you about my friends that you will be better able to know me.

Today I'm trying something a little unorthadox with this, as only one person requested to be next on my list of "Who I Am." The person that requested a shot was [livejournal.com profile] akdidge, a man I have only ever met through the internet, and that meeting has been limited to D&D posts and livejournal.

This made it slightly odd for me. For the first time, when thinking about a friend, and I do consider him a friend, I had to do research, going back to old posts and rereading what he said so to get a firm picture of him in my mind. This wasn't as difficult, or as easy, as it sounds.

So, let me tell you about Didge, as he's affectionately called over at the Dungeon & Dragon forums. It was interesting, finding out who this stranger was, and maybe you'll find it interesting too!

Didge doesn't live in the continental United States, but I've been told we can't hold that against him, so just keep your wrongheaded opinions on Alaska to yourself, okay? Sure, we all know that since he lives in Alaska he must live in an igloo, and be Iniut, but that's no reason to call him an igloo-living-seal-clubber. Okay?

Seriously though, I wouldn't have said the above if I didn't think Didge had a sense of humor that was, at the least, slightly weird like mine. That's one of the really good things about him, he knows how to laugh at the world around him, and himself. And hey, if he doesn't know how to laugh about himself, then I'm safely many hundreds of miles away!

Didge is one of the many people that I know that has, wisely, made a plan for the Zombie Apocalypse, as shown by his comment here. Smart man, with a fairly well-thought-out plan that makes me hopeful for humanity after the outbreak.

As far as successfulness goes, I would have to say that Didge is quite successful in life. He's working a job that, while not great (it seems), he's able to do it and get paid for it, a very important thing with jobs I've heard. He has his own home that, even though it sucks the energy out of him, he's fixing up into being what he wants it to be. He has a girlfriend. So far, things are looking pretty good for being rated "successful." Pretty good indeed.

I will say that I've noticed Didge has a small bit of a temper, but only about very specific things, like people hurting those he loves. That's definately acceptable, I've been like that too. I just worry that he might take something the wrong way and explode at people one day. I think that if he ever did explode, it would be scary to see.

That's another thing: "to see." I've never seen Didge. That's fine, but keeping in mind that this is the "WWW," I have to remember that I very well could be talking about a 10 year old girl that's been dreaming about all this and is somehow more versed in D&D by the time she turned 10 than I've ever been. Other than that, though, Didge and I have no problems. I find him quite interesting, with a good sense of humor.

There you have it, that's AKDidge, in my eyes. A funny, thought-provoking guy that lives in the middle of nowhere.

If you would like to be spotlighted in my "Who I Am" series, please let me know through comments, otherwise, I'm going to have to pull someone at random from my friends, and that just might not be good! (But it probably won't be bad.)

(Doesn't the subject to this sound like it could be some kind of off-broadway number in a much bigger production? I think the show would be called "Housework, The Reckoning.")

I turned things around today, from being a "feel-like doing nothing" kind of day to a day where I did a write-up in my "Who I Am" series, mowed the lawn, and did a lot of dishes that have needed doing for quite some time. Have I mentioned I hate doing dishes?

I know I'm a lazy person, and so decided that the best way to get the entire lawn done was going to be to do the back first. See, if I do the front, smaller piece of land, first, I feel tired, and sweaty, and just don't want to do more. I usually find an excuse to not do the back, or just "put it off for tomorrow," and tomorrow comes a week later. So instead, I tricked myself into doing the back first, leaving the smaller, more manageable part for last so that I had no excuses.

It's good that I know myself, but still, sometimes it's scary, the measures I must resort to to make myself do what I should be doing anyways. Quite scary.

Making plans already for this Saturday. The company picnic is going on, from about 11am until whenever, which will probably be around 3 or 4 pm, I think. I'm bringing Dagorhir weapons along to have some fun with, and maybe get some people interested in playing.

Doing the weapons, however, gives me even more work to do. Now I have to repair my old weapons, make a few new ones, alter my Hammer of Doom +5, and make sure everything is safe enough that if people that have no idea what they're doing accidentally smash me in the head, it won't hurt. Yes, that's right: I'm making these weapons safe not because I'm worried about other people, but because they're going to be used against me. So? It equals out to about the same thing, right? (I am kidding of course, I don't want to see anyone hurt.)

Plus, hey, my boss wants to play with the swords. What better time than whacking your boss with fake weapons?

That's about it. Dishes, weapons, lawn mowing, taking care of the dog, calling a few friends, and picking Maria up from her work at the SPCA. She's on the phone with me right now. Gotta go!
