Eating Day
Nov. 25th, 2005 09:46 amYesterday was nice, other than the snow storm that followed us on our three hour long drive out to the Central New York area of Sherrill, NY. It's the small, hick town I originally come from.
It was nice to gather with my direct family, and a few wayward relatives that didn't have anywhere else to go for Thanksgiving lunch. (We ate at 1pm. It was lunch.) My Uncle Rick with his two children and my grandma all came. I got a chance to talk with my grandma and my Uncle, something that I normally can't do when the entire family gathers because everyone is so busy chatting with everyone else that usually they tend to focus on the people they still think of as adults. At 25, it's hard to still be thought of as "one of the kids." Thankfully, with so few people I believe I was actually seen as semi-adult-ish.
The nicest part of yesterday, aside from the family, the food, and the good times (so, okay, ONE of the nicest parts) was that I got a chance to go into the rafters that ar ein the garage and finally clean out every last box that was full of my books from when I moved. Why my dad put them up there, I'll never know, but I guess he had his reasons.
I've been searching through the books, making box fulls of "used book store" books, and piles of "I'm keeping these" books. The used book store pile is bigger, but I love that I'm finding books that I have been missing, or books that I never knew I had and are very exciting to see, like the first AD&D Fiend Folio.
I have to get back to sorting books now. If I'm going to go out today to the book store, I need to have as many ready as possible so that I can have some trade-in value there to buy new books with. Hurray! New books!
