So the other day I asked that people send me good vibes, or let me borrow some luck for a little while, and you came through for me. Thank you for that, I really appreciate the good will being sent my way when asked for, it means a lot to a superstitious guy like me. Superstition actually has a lot to do with why it seemed so secretive when I asked for it. See, I used to honestly believe that the Universe was out to get me - Maria would confirm this fact if you asked her about two years ago. I got into the habit of not saying out loud the good things I was hoping for because I would quickly find the chance snatched out of my hands.

Now, the past two or so years have been good for me. Jobs have been steady, Maria and I have gotten past most of the relationship speed-bumps that caused problems in our earlier relationship, we have a house, and the dogs are awesome. Just, sometimes old habits die hard, especially when you have 20-some years of experience behind them, and a part of you is always cringing, watching the sky for that toilet to land on you.

I started this though to tell you all that despite secrecy and good vibes, the thing we were looking at, which was potentially buying a beautiful but cheap house on 5 acres of land, didn't work out. There was a reason this house was so cheap, and it would have cost about half again the price of buying it to fix the roof and walls that were filled with mold. So, it didn't work out.

That's okay though. It's not like we need to move any time soon, or there's any pressing drive to get out, but this house was...perfect.

Well, perfect if you discount that you'd need to remove the top part to completely replace the roof, get all the mold removed, probably rebuild walls, and whatever other things might have gone wrong with it in the 2 years it has just sat there since the old owners passed on. You know - perfect.

We'll keep looking, because Maria has the "got to get a new property" bug again, and despite all signs, I actually enjoy moving around to new places, it's like a small adventure. Considering one of my prize collection pieces to my sword collection was found in this house after we bought it, I look forward to new places!

But still, I'll keep half an eye on the sky, waiting for the other poo to drop.
