My mother called me the other day. Well, actually that's not true. My father called me the other day, and my mother stole the phone from him once she learned who he was talking to. Makes a son feel all special, or something.

See, my birthday is coming up next week, and I'll be turning 27. My mom, in her fashion, wants me to make a list of things I want for my birthday, and of course this only makes sense. I mean, I don't want it to end up like it has a few years where what I get is clothing two sizes too small, and a gift card good for half a book. My favorite was the year I moved out, when I got $20 and a card, but hundreds were spent on my siblings that year. I think they were feeling bitter that I moved out, but I'm okay with that, I was happy that I had a place of my own.

Anyways.

I'm looking at my email, where my mom has just sent me a reminder to get her a list or I'll have to "trust to my luck," meaning they'll pick something they think I'm going to like, and I'm stumped.

I have no idea what I want.

I mean, I have goals, and I have some toys that would be really cool, but goals are something you can come to personally, and those toys I want are a couple hundred dollars, so I really don't know what to ask for.

So far, here's my list:

1. Nintendo Wii
2. Nintendo Wii accessories (only if getting Nintendo Wii)

So, you can see how I'm stumped.

I'm a geek like a lot of you. I like D&D, I like computers, I like games (though I rarely have enough time to play these days), and I just all-around like stuff. I'm just not sure what's out there right now to want.

I know I asked, recently, what would you do with $500 selfish dollars (some of the answers were really good, I suggest checking them out if you haven't already), but that's a little too heavy for me. So, I'm going to ask another question, and hopefully you can help me out. I'm looking for a wide range of options here, so whatever you think of (that isn't clothes or gift cards) please feel free to share.

What are some cool things to want that roughly cost under $75? If it's available to purchase at a store, that will make it much easier for my parents, but they're not so in the stone-age that they can't figure out internet purchasing if need be.

Hit me, folks, I need inspiration.

This is NOT me asking for gifts, but a place to keep a small "splurge" list of items I'd like for my birthday. This is the finalized list that I'm sending my mom; five sections with items listed inside. With the help of a few people giving good suggestions (and a few silly suggestions given by good people) I was able to figure out that there are still things out there that I want to own. Glad to know my materialistic streak is still going strong.

So without further ado, my greedy five:

1. Anything by Steve Jackson Games. Mostly what I'd like to see is Munchkin, a zany card game based off of roleplaying games, or one of its MANY sequels which can be found on that page. Usually the basic Munchkin game can be found a local comic book shop, so it's not too difficult to find. There's also many roleplaying game books made by Steve Jackson Games, and the only one I own is Killer, which is awesome, so any of those books would go well with this request.

2. Geeky toys, like an MP3 Player, weird geek toys or something silly, like a large sheet of dry erase board from Home Depot, big enough to cover a table and make a map-grid system out of for D&D. I consider that geeky.

3. Cooking stuff! I love new kitchen gadgets, and any of the following can probably be found at a Target, a Bed Bath and Beyond, or something similar: An ice cream maker, a food processor, a dehydrator (would love one), a rotisserie (set it and forget it!), or any other interesting kitchen gadget that I don't already have. I have all the George Forman Grill stuff, and am not that super impressed, so none of that, please.

4. D&D stuff, though I have an extensive collection already. Dungeon and Dragon Miniatures is something I don't have, and could use, AND can easily be found at just about any book store, or local gaming shop. There are a few new books out, but I have so many of those that my shelves are bending, ready to give up the ghost, so I think I'm okay without more rulebooks on D&D. So, D&D Miniatures, or anything else that's not a rulebook would be great.

5. Juggling stuff! I still want to get into all sorts of juggling because it's fun, and almost soothing when you get into a rhythm. There are Devil Sticks, clubs, contact juggling balls, and videos or books on how to do it all! Unfortunately I don't know of a store you can purchase these, just online.

So that's my list. What do you think I'm missing? :)
