Those are handy, but are they really the big turning point that put us in charge of everything else? As Fax points out, there are animals with opposable thumbs like ours. If we weren't the dominant species, would otters rule the world?
Personally I think so, but only because they look all sleek, suave, and awesome swimming through the water.
