Serendipity

"You know, I'm sitting here trying to figure something out that's kind of bothering me," I said late last night to Maria as I sat on the couch, trying to figure something out that was kind of bothering me.

"Really, what?"

"Well, I'm sore. Every muscle in my body is sore; my arms, legs, stomach, even chest and back muscles feel almost like they're ready to give out on me. I'm in pain, and I know exactly what caused all of this - going to the gym."

"I'm sure you're leading up to something?" Maria was slightly impatient because she was working on freelance and having some issues with code.

"Well, tomorrow I'm going back to the gym to do the same workout routine, working the same sore and tired muscles, causing me the same, if not more pain in the same places. Yet," I paused, reassessing my feelings and finding them the same as before, "I'm looking forward to going to the gym. What the hell is wrong with me?"

Maria smiled, and went back to work.
