Turkey Day
Nov. 22nd, 2006 09:18 amI know I have international readers now, and so I'm supposed to pretend like American holidays don't exist (have you SEEN the drama it causes if you just wish someone not from America "Happy 4th of July," and they're feeling snippy? Like, whoa.), but still, tomorrow is Thanksgiving, so I'd like to wish everyone a nice day and a happy Thanksgiving.
I'm going out to see my family along with Maria, and we're dragging my kid sister along. I don't know if I can say I'm looking forward to it since I usually come back a little more strung out and cynical than when I go in, but it'll be nice to see the family again for a little while. It helps that we have a hotel room and aren't taking my parents offer of a blow-up mattress situated in the Sun Room (a room that is mostly windows, GREAT place to sleep when the sun is rising) and flanked by the kitchen, where my father often likes to do dishes at 6 am and then is surprised when we claim that we didn't sleep well that night.
See? Cynical and bitter already. Heh.
So help me out: What plans do you have? What traditions do you follow for this fine "stuff your face full of food" day?
