Raise your glasses in toast tonight my friends, and give a moment of silence. Our friend, Pluto, has passed away from the world of being a planet.

Pluto is Dead.

At 6pm EST tonight I will be raising my glass in toast to the Pluto formerly known as a planet and if you'd do the same it would be appreciated, I'm sure.

Pass on the message, let all know to raise a glass in rememberance. Please let me know in comments if you will be joining in on this memorial service as it's nice to know people are mourning with you.

Thanks! Today is a sad day for those of us that will some day say to our grandchildren (or nieces and nephews if you're like me and don't want children) "I remember when there was this tiny planet, far at the edges of space, and we called it Pluto. I remember where I was when I heard that it died." :)

I don't think it's fair to change things that we had to memorize in grammar school. =(

Like when they took poor Indigo out of the color spectrum. At least Indigo is back.. I refuse to acknowledge the demotion of Pluto!

Still, have a drink to night in rememberance of the mnemonics that will never again be used, if you can't accept a drink for the death of Pluto. ;)

It's not like they blasted it out of space... Still, in my heart it will always be a planet (yes, like we all memorized way back when ago).

Some day we're going to be thought of as odd relics for remembering when Pluto was a planet. Can you imagine?

I'll be toasting Pluto tonight.

I just refuse to believe it.

Pluto will always be a planet to me.

Pluto will always be a planet to me too, just not a Planet. Sad days we live in, end times and all that. "Thus the first sign shall be the heavenly bodies known as planets losing one of their own to prove the pen is mightier than the sword."

Glad there'll be another toasting with me.

Just in case you're interested, here (http://jfargo.livejournal.com/333302.html) is my 6pm eulogy of the once-planet.

(I'm letting everyone that's not a normal reader of me know about it, you know, just because.)

Unfortunately I must decline, for I say "about damn time. Pluto never was a planet to begin with."

However I will salute at that time in memory of the now-obsolete mnemonic: "My Very Excellent Mother Just Sent Us Nine Pizzas"

What will become of this mnemonic NOW??

So sad...

Okay then, don't raise a glass to the dead rock, raise a glass to the now-dead mnemonic. :)

Pluto, not just formerly known as a planet and a god, but also as a dog. Or, in the vernacular "Aw, you're just a mutt!"

Did you ever read Nancy Kress' Beggers in Spain series? That would be a shorthand - longhand would be I never mind explaining a thought process and I never think someone is foolish or can't brain cause they don't take the leap I took. I jump funny.

76 years ago Pluto was declared a planet. Today... let's sub-categorize the sum-bitch.

I am prepared to film a homemade public service announement to denouce this move.

It is not a planet any long 'cause a group of snobbish old farts from Prague deemed it... "Not so"

The upcoming announcement has been paid for by [ENTER NAME OF PRO-PLUTO FACTION HERE]!

It's kind of weird to think that there are people around who might be able to remember when Pluto wasn't a planet. :)

Can we be called the Plutonians? Come on, it's catchy! :)

I'd rather be a Plutocrat, it sounds more like we'd meet our end in tumbrils and less like we'd meet our end at the hands of an invading force. Executioner you know and all that. Also, Plutonians makes me think of rock bands and/or silly native costume.

Does that mean we could be the Plutocracy? That'd be cool.

Good call on the name. :)
