Imaginary Day

My dog keeps getting out while we're gone, wreaking havoc among the house, eating things that should not be eaten, and destroying plates we got for our wedding. She ate a sponge. A nasty, filthy, sponge. Then she went to the bathroom garbage and sorted it out between cotton swabs, used tissue paper, and a condom.
That was yesterday.
Today we put her back in the room, made sure the gates we use (we stack one on top of another, yesterday having forgot the top one she just hurdled the bottom) were nice and tight, and went to drop Maria off at work. Instead of going to class I had today off, so I came right home.
Only to find that she had smashed her way through the top gate, knocking it out of its place onto the floor, shattering one of the bits of molding around the door.
So, tomorrow she starts being caged again when we leave. We used to do it, but thought this was a nice way to allow our dogs some time together when we weren't around. Now MaiTai's going to get free reign of the house while we're not around, and Monster will howl from her cage for a while, before falling asleep.
Problem solved? Sure, but I wish we didn't have to buy new toothbrushes, toothpaste, plates, stirring implements, and other miscellaneous items just to learn our lesson.
How could someone so cute be such a pain in the ass?

Date: 2008-04-08 02:00 pm (UTC)this is why we don't have human kids ;)
Our katkids are adorable, but they also do non-adorable things like barfing or leaving hairballs on my parent's carpet.
You're right though, MaiTai is adorable. Just part of the fun of having 'kids' I guess.

Date: 2008-04-08 02:39 pm (UTC)We have a cat who has a specific 'about fucking time' meow. However, he manages to also do pitiful kitten meows and makes everyone go 'awwww, you poor thing!' Which he eats up.
Oh well...Monster is cute then! That's always the way with the troublemaker. So darn adorable.

Date: 2008-04-08 02:40 pm (UTC)Well, it all depends on who you tell. ;)

Date: 2008-04-08 02:42 pm (UTC)It's a self defense mechanism. The same way babies/puppies/kittens are adorably cute when they're small and helpless. This ensures they survive long enough to make your life happy/miserable at the same time! Not that I have a good solution for this whole thing yet, but I'm working on it.

Date: 2008-04-09 01:35 pm (UTC)My kids that I can put in the backyard when they're too much of a pain in the ass. Yay! Heh.

Date: 2008-04-09 01:41 pm (UTC)I'm thinking PetSmart Hotel. Any idea about that? (Of course, I'm assuming PetSmart is national and well-known..)

Date: 2008-04-09 01:46 pm (UTC)I'm lucky, my mom's best friend has a kennel on a farm with a HUGE outdoor dog run and everything, so we have a kennel if we ever need it.

Date: 2008-04-08 09:13 pm (UTC)It's just a shame that they always seem to know that they're cute and that they can use it against us...

Date: 2008-04-09 01:40 pm (UTC)We do really hope she grows out of it, but she probably won't, and so we'll be caging her while we're not here. MaiTai gets the run of the house, but Monster has to stay in her own little personal house. *shrugs* I feel bad for her, but it's what we have to do.
We Love Them Anyways
Date: 2008-04-08 11:31 pm (UTC)That's just Tyson.
Fezzik... a couple of cat toys. He's not a destroyer by any means.

Date: 2008-04-11 10:39 pm (UTC)Fezzik's just draining our bank account this week... he's been at the vet since yesterday morning, and sick since Monday :( Hopefully I can bring him hope tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed!

Date: 2008-04-14 12:31 am (UTC)They let me take him home Saturday morning, and he's doing well. The vet's office told me that they had to deal with a whole lot of barking as a result of not letting me visit Fezzik on Friday night. He wanted his Mommy.
