Okay, recently I started myself on a little bit of health challenge. I'm a big guy, as I've mentioned before, and have been working pretty hard (and successfully) to change that. Still, I found myself in a rut, so I started a blog to challenge myself.

In those challenges, I set myself up with an attainable goal, a reward if I obtain that goal, and a consequence if I don't. It's really kind of cool, as I've never done something quite like this.

Right now I have a weekly goal of losing 2 lbs by Wednesday. My reward if I make it (and I believe that I will) is a pair of sunglasses. Not just any sunglasses, no. That would be boring. I want something to go with my hair, something that says "I see the world in a different light."

I want rose-colored glasses. Red, rose, whatever.

The only ones I can find are plastic, ugly frames, or not red. What I want are metal frames, with a shape similar to the glasses I wear on a day-to-day basis:

I'm looking for that or similar, as a pair of sunglasses, with colored lenses. Is this possible? Can you help me find it?

If not, I'll probably have to change my reward for losing weight, but I have no idea what I would change it to. I really, for some reason, want rose-colored sunglasses. Is that weird?

You can order prescription sun glasses and that way you could probably ge them with the red lenses.

I've thought about that, but I understand they're fairly expensive.

Still, it can't hurt to check in with Maria's insurance and see if there's a reasonable price. Just can't tell them it's because "I want to be stylin'." :)

i did some looking and Serengeti brand has wired framed rosed tinted lenses and I think you can get them as prescription or not.

You can look them up and see if you like them.

Thanks. :) Good brand, nice look, but I think it's a little expensive for only losing 2 lbs. Maybe when I reach my goal weight of "Much less." *s*

Wow. $100+ for what I really want.

I have to admit that on that first link I like the Kamikaze style sunglasses, but I don't want to look like a freak, just different. :)

My purple hair may be pushing it as is, from the looks and comments I'm getting.

It surprises me, actually, that I'm the freak on campus. I don't see anyone else out there with crazy hair or anything. It's weird. Especially since I'm almost 30. *laughs*

You can check with your local eye glass store to see if they can create rose-colored lenses that will fit your current frames. Chances are, they can. If you want to save money, just have them give you the lenses, and you can swap them out with your current frames whenever you want. Not very convenient, but less expensive than buying frames.

That's actually a fantastic idea, and I may have to follow up on that. Sunglasses that are actually what I'm looking for are insanely expensive (I'm sorry, every pair of sunglasses I've ever owned ended up broken rather quickly, so $100+ is ludicrous), so having something to go in my actual glasses might work much better.

Thanks!

You're welcome. I thought about it because when I got my latest prescription lenses, I bought new every-day frames, and had them put prescription lenses in my old frames. Saved about $200.

I have no advice on where to find them, but that idea rocks! Rose colored sunglasses. NICE!
(And best of luck on the fitness deal!)

Rose colored glasses are pretty sweet, I remember Gina had a pair (but they had hippie multi-colored plastic arms on them so not what you'd want :) ).

I want to find a pair of Prism glasses, and can't find any anywhere. Basically I can only find the ones with cheap paper arms, or ones that have 'angels' or 'fireworks' or say 'Noel' or some silly thing, instead of a nice simple Starburst effect. I used to have a 'pair' that looked kind of like the Geordi La Forge visor, but that was a good 15 years ago :(

So, more hair pics yet, or not until you get glasses? :)

check out zennioptical.com

they are inexpensive and do tinted lenses in a variety of colors. I got two pair about 6 months ago for $30... frames, lenses, cases, cleaning clothes, and shipping.
