One Fine World

It's raining. I've got work to do around the house, then actual work where I get paid. After both things are done, I can start packing for my weekend long LARP trip. Supposedly, the weather will be nice for the weekend, but I'm definitely knocking on wood every time I even dare to think those words.
I'm not sure I can get through everything I need to have done before the end of the day, or if I do that it will be far too late to catch the Friday night game crew to go out with them for drinks at the local bar. It's not like I have any cash, so I suppose that means I won't be missing much, but it's a nice time to get to know the new people, say hi to folks you've already met, and what-not.
I think the most important thing I must do today, aside from the work that helps pay the bills, is clean the kitchen. Even packing my gear for the weekend takes a backseat to making sure the kitchen is nice and clean for my wife while I'm gone. Once I do that I can be assured that when I come home from game, the mess made will be all hers, and I'll be justified in grumbling at her about it.
Sometimes our victories aren't really "wins," so much as "losses with benefits."
