Every since I dissolved LARP USA, I've both regretted it and been relieved.

Relieved because I don't have to worry about taxes, or about whether or not I have the money to fulfill the orders that are coming in while still being able to pay myself and the credit card company.

Regret? Well. There's lots of that.

For example, if LARP USA were still alive I would JUMP at the chance to buy this. It's an item that I was always looking to purchase while running the business, a tool that helps make making chain mail rings super easy. I still want it, but have no use for it. In my "warehouse" now there is probably one hundred pounds of wire and rings, never sold, never used. Yet a part of me says "If you make them, they'll be purchased."

Horse-crap. They were the worst-selling items on my site. Why do I keep wanting to make more? I have no idea.

But really, I miss having my own business. I'm going to be looking into reopening it eventually, but not for a long while, once my financial situation is stable. Once I figure out how to work everything together so that I can work, go to school, and run a business while at the same time not having to worry about where the cash for the business is coming from, that's when I'll start it up again.

In the mean time, I still wish I had the Jump Ring Maker, just because.

(Sort of pinging [livejournal.com profile] theferrett on this one, if you have time, since I'm pretty sure it was you I got this idea from. That being said I would love help from all gamers on this one, please.)

I'm thinking of starting up a D&D 3.5 edition game, run weekly on Thursday nights at the local gaming shop. I have a home made world, have a general story that will weave in and out of daily life of the players, and some really fantastic ideas that I think will improve the play of the game. I'm completely set to sit down, start some level one characters, and run a game long enough and fun enough to keep them interested well into the high teens of levels, if not the ever-elusive Level 20.

But, well, that would require players.

We've lived in Delaware for a while, but I haven't taken the time to get to know anyone. I simply don't know anyone well enough to say "Yes, I want you in my game." Thus, I would like to make an application for the game. I don't want it to come across as rude, but I want to make sure that the player is going to fit the game. Yes, I can and will change the game to suite a different playing style, but I will not change my code of "if you're creepy, I don't want you around" as GM.

I'd like my gaming application to be 1 part about the person to every 2 parts about the kind of gamer they are, if that makes sense.

Can anyone help me out in figuring the best way to do this? I'd like to start running a game soonish, as I'm really missing my RP fix these days.

...

That all being said, I'm also considering an online game via some chat program. I don't know if I could run that, as I've never really tried and it seems as though it might be difficult, but I find the idea interesting. Would anybody be looking to get into something like that? I'm considering either using a voice chat or a conventional text chat, depending on what people think is best.

And lo the voice of the Almighty came forth and bestowed It's mighty regard upon the lowest of It's many followers, Jeremiah:

"Psst. Hey, listen up."

"Huh?"

Thus again did The One address his subject with generosity and wisdom:

"Just wanted to give you a heads up, you're a complete and utter geek, just how I made you."

"Um. Okay, that's great. Thanks. Who is this again?

Satisfied, The One Who Is Called Iam moved on.

"What the hell was that all about? And who's Iam?"

You aren't supposed to be able to read this, it's just so the readers get what's going on.

"Oh. Okay then, sorry. I'll just go on about my business I suppose. Have a good day and all that."

Thus it was.

--------------------------------

Last night I did possibly one of the geekiest things I've ever been a part of: I played D&D over the internet. Using Trillian I was able to meet with relative strangers (I've known one here for a little while, [livejournal.com profile] fax_celestis, but had never met any of the others) and roleplay.

It was absolutely awesome, and I'm looking forward to next week. In the mean time I'm trying to find a program to help with over-the-net play that includes a good mapping system, a good chat system, and is free. Any suggestions from my D&D crowd?

So that's probably the geekiest thing I have every done to date. What's the geekiest thing you've ever done?
