Most folks I know seem to hate Mondays on principle. It's the first day of the work week for most people, signifies an end to a nice, relaxing weekend, and generally is when adult life comes back into focus. I can understand why most people dread the end of Sunday, and say the word "Monday" with dripping hatred and scorn.

Me? I like Mondays.

I had the weekend to recharge my batteries, spent some nice time with my wife, and generally enjoyed myself. Monday brings me back to reality, sends me to school, and puts me to work. Sure, it's not great, but I'm a creature of change (or at least I try to be) and going from one extreme to another is great. As the week progresses you get a little play between relaxation and work, but Monday is all business.

I don't know; maybe I just like going against the norm. Everyone else hates Mondays, so why not embrace them, make them my own? If I enjoy Monday, maybe I can smile a little bit brighter and pass on a grin to my friends and classmates?

Sure, I'll go with that one.

How about you? Mondays: Love 'em or get rid of 'em?

Okay, so here's the rundown for the day. Keep up with me if you can.

I'm going to class at 11, which means that in order to get a good parking spot I have to leave here by 10. That way, even if I don't get a good spot, I'll have time to bike to class from wherever I do end up parking. Before then I have to make sure the 5 puppies, plus my two dogs, are empty enough that they'll last a couple of hours without making a mess. I'm not worried about my two girls, because they're old enough to know better, but the five puppies? Well, they're puppies.

After class I'm swinging by Maria's work to pick her up for lunch. We'll come home, where she'll graciously and thankfully take the puppies out back to run around the big yard while I cook a nice lunch for the both of us, after which she'll go back to work, and I'll be stuck with the puppies. Hopefully they'll be tired enough that it won't matter.

During this time between Maria leaving for work and about 4:30, I'll be making pizzas. I need to make 4 12-inch cheese pizzas. 1 for Maria's dinner, and 3 for the D&D group I'm a part of, which I'm doing at 6 tonight. Add in clean-up time for afterward (proper pizza making is a VERY messy business) and you're talking more hours than I have. Plus, dishes.

I'm going to be late for D&D, though, because from 5-6 PM there's an Arabic review session and given my performance as of late, I feel the need to go. It could be worthless or very helpful. I'm hoping the latter, obviously.

Then, D&D. Relaxation. After that, home. Relaxation. Sleep.

The last bit's not too bad.

I'm off to class, and I'm feeling better. The lessons in the book last night were simple, easy-to-follow, and straight-forward. Having the DVDs to show native speakers pronouncing and writing the language was very helpful.

The homework wasn't difficult, but it was time-intensive. The first week or so we were told to expect to put in extra time in order to learn a whole new alphabet, so hopefully my homework won't take two hours each night after this week.

And yes, for the first time in over a decade I'm actually doing my homework. I think my parents would be shocked. Still, for this class I actually feel that homework is a necessity, where as in High School I almost always automatically grasped what they were trying to tell me, and so I felt homework was just busy work. With this class, I can't participate unless I learn the new stuff I'm doing the night before.

Time to get going to class. I'm getting there two hours early in hopes of getting a good parking spot, because if I don't find a good one it's a long walk. Well, kind of long. Long to me.
