I hold in my hands the method of my death, and it's all [livejournal.com profile] turbotroll's fault.

For those that don't know, I am a fan of spicy food. Some claim to be fans but can't handle the type of heat that I love. Others blow me out of the water when it comes to the amount of spice they can take in without breaking down into tears.

These Bhut Jolokia peppers measure 1,000,000+ on the Scoville Scale, which makes them roughly as powerful as 200 Jalapeno peppers. The chemicals that cause the heat (capsaicin) can cause you to suffocate and die in large enough amounts. If these Jolokia peppers aren't that "large enough amount" then I don't know what is.

But I have been challenged.

See, Earl (turbotroll) suggested that I bite one on camera and post it for the world to see.

So I will. Eventually. When I get up the nerve to do so. Maria will have to be here in case I start suffocating so that she can call 911, and I'll have a large glass of milk on hand (I might buy a small thing of 2% milk instead of the skim we normally have since it's the fat that helps fight the heat) to help wash away any horrible pain.

So to sum it up: If I die, it's Earl's fault.

No real time to chat. Doctor's appointment this morning, then work. Maria will be picking up Earl at the bus station some time after noon and when I'm dong with work I get to hang out with both of them.

Gotta go! No time at all. See you around, have a great day!

EDIT A FEW HOURS LATER:

Okay so this morning was relatively crazy. Out the door at 8, at the doctor's (yearly physical) by 9, then off for blood work and a new prescription because I'm getting old and I think the rule is once you hit 30 you have to be on at least one "once-a-day" kind of medicine. The amount doubles after that every 5 years until the leading cause of death in old age is choking on pills.

But I digress.

I have 40 minutes to rest and relax before I go pick up Maria from work. She will then drop me off at my job, go pick up Earl and spend the day with him while I ring cash register for 4.75 hours. After THAT I finally get to hang out with Earl for a few hours.

Yay Earl!

So overall today's going to be a fine-but-busy day.

For the record, the medicine I'm on will hopefully stop me from having days like I had last week where I just wanted to curl into a ball on the couch and go into shut-down mode. This is a good thing.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING!

Today's my one day off this week and I only have the one job at PetSmart. Originally I thought this was going to be four days on and three days off but it turns out it's six days on and one day off. Still not a lot of hours (about 28 a week) but spread out over the course of several days. One day (at the moment) I'm only working 2 hours! Geesh.

Still, I love working with the dogs and am very happy I got this job. That's not me trying to convince myself; it's simple truth.

Today though? Today I have off! Whoo! So, instead of going to work I get to clean the kitchen, go grocery shopping, return movies to the library, till the soil in my garden, plant seeds indoors to start seedlings for my garden, build an 8'x4' garden frame, take care of the dogs, clean up around the house, and do laundry.

Yay, day off?

What's up with you today?

I went to a two hour meeting at work today and on my way home I was thinking I had wasted my time because everything they went over I already knew. Then I had a revelation: I made money sitting there doing nothing but listening and talking a little bit.

I was suddenly okay with this meeting.

So, what's up with the whole picture thing?

Well, I got a webcam for my birthday. I love [livejournal.com profile] fragbert's daily picture and decided to emulate him in that regard. It gives me a visual log of myself day-to-day for however long I keep it up and I generally like things like that.

Also, I can look at this picture and think "Oh yeah, that's when I was dancing to Lady Gaga's 'Just Dance.'"

What? Yeah. I like it. Sue me.

In other news, my trip to Baltimore yesterday was fun. I spent a few hours at the Baltimore Museum of Art, met a new friend and had a good time. I got lost in a part of Baltimore that I was told is a really bad section of town but I just saw a lot of people walking around enjoying their day; maybe I'm just fearless when it comes to other people? I don't know.

Still, it was fun. I've never actually been to a museum that was dedicated solely to art and I found most of it absolutely fascinating. There was one portrait in particular that was stunning. Of course I don't remember its name, painter, or anything but trust me: it was cool.

One hour before work. I'm really nervous even though I know it'll be fine. Butterflies in my stomach are trying to make their way to my brain but I'm remaining calm, cool, and collected. AND in control.

When it gets really bad I just put on Lady Gaga and start dancing.

Heh.

Good morning friends and family and random people I don't really know but like to hear from in comments anyway. How's it goin'?

Busy day ahead full of fun stuff, good people, new adventures and sights to behold.

Last night I graduated from training and am now officially a PetSmart Accredited Pet Trainer! Go me! I'm very happy that I get to go to the local store now and don't have to drive an hour each way to get to work but I'm really going to miss the people I met there; they were all pretty awesome folks.

So things are good. The mood from two days ago is gone, my stomach is better and I'm ready to face the world. Just as long as the world is ready to face me I think we're doing good.

Thanks to everybody with kind words, thoughts, and good vibes for me the past few days. Sorry I went all "emo" on you - something just sort of triggered in my brain and sent me into a short downward spiral. It's all better now.

Well, I'm off to face the world. Like my outfit today?

I am feeling GOOD this morning! How are you?

I went out last night with our friend Susan who just returned from Haiti. We went to a local Competitive Scrabble club where I was beaten so thoroughly that I'm sure quantum replications of me winced when I looked at my scores. Four times. It was painful and a disgrace.

So of course I'll be going back! It was definitely a lot of fun and I was happy to spend some time with Susan and getting to know all these other people that were there. They made me feel young, being as they were all about 60 and above.

That was my highlight so far this week. I think I'll be going back every now and then since you don't get better if you don't play, especially if you can't find good opponents like these people. I learned so much about Scrabble in one night that I haven't learned in several years of playing; it was crazy!

What did you do last night? Anything fun?

Good morning! Today is looking to be a good day, bright and sunny with a hint of work but nothing longer than an hour or so. Friday's trip out to Baltimore is shaping up nicely and might actually help me get a few things off my 101 Things in 1001 Days list! Awesome.

Ooh, that reminds me that I have to go delete a few things off that list!

Unfortunately one thing I have to leave on the list for now is "own a firearm." I intrepidly left this weekend to go pick up a Ruger 10/22 and found a man not only unwilling to help me but spouting off rules like "we can't sell rifles on the weekend" and "you need to go through a gun safety course and get a safety card." These two rules are things I have never heard of and rules I cannot find anywhere online. When I called on Monday, suspicious that this man simply didn't feel like working, and asked what one needed to purchase a firearm in DE I was told "two forms of ID and money."

So I'm done with Dick's Sporting Goods. I'm going to visit an actual "Gun Shop" today, calling first to find out what I actually need. If it turns out I do need this gun safety course then I'll take it online tonight and be done with it so that I can actually go out there and finally have the firearm my friends intended me to buy with the awesome birthday gift of cash.

4 hours until I go to work. Until then I'll practice the cello, probably play a little Star Trek Online (I have a 5-day trial thanks to Eric, a geeky friend in the area) and make sure the kitchen is clean. After I've been to work for an hour I'll pick up Maria for lunch, then go back to work.

Exciting day, no?

Yeah.

My Puppies!

These are my two dogs, and Maria's feet under a blanket. Monster, the funny looking Old English Sheepdog, got a haircut yesterday that brought her coat down to almost nothing because I was a bad puppy daddy and had let her get matted all over the place. I hadn't brushed her in a while and didn't realize how bad it had gotten.

Still, it's just hair and it will grow back. Poor silly little girl can't go into sunlight for more than 15 minutes at a time though for fear of sunburn! If it dries out in the back today I'll let them run around for a little bit, bring them back inside, then let them out when the sun is lower in the sky.

Poor girl.

This week looks to be nice. Sounds like I'll be going to Baltimore on Friday to hang out with a new friend and will be at work otherwise. Today and tomorrow I'll put in a couple of hours at the University doing transcription - assuming I pass this ethics test they're making me take - and Wednesday/Thursday I'll be taking over the classes at PetSmart in Dover to prove my training is complete!

Speaking of this ethics course/test I'm being made to take in order to sit down and type reports at the University I'd just like to say "ARGH!" Don't get me wrong; I get why they added this at the last moment but I have to take this course on my own time, take multiple tests, pass them with at least an 80% and THEN I can start working. Not awesome. I'm about 30% done and it has taken me over half an hour to get this far. Grah.

With that note, I should get back to finishing the test so that I can start working at UD. Hope you're all doing well, that today is awesome for you, and that nothing but good things happen to you all.

Bye!

Good morning! I hope your weekend's going well? Mine is, and it lasts until Wednesday afternoon! Well, I guess I'll actually be going to work Monday and Tuesday at the University but that's just for two or three hours to work on transcription; nothing like walking around all day for 7-8 hours on my feet. I forgot how tiring that really is! It'll be better when I'm actually working in my store though just because I won't have to drive an hour there and an hour back; that's pretty tiring too.

So what's new in your world? I bought Zombieland last night because all Hollywood Video stores in Delaware are going out of business and they have great deals on all their movies. Any suggestions for newer or older movies that I should look into buying?

Today I finally will be buying a rifle. Last week there was an issue with my license not matching my address so I ran out and got that fixed. Hopefully there should be no issues this week! *knock on wood* (Seriously, I knocked on wood.)

So TT, this means you have to pick one up now! You said we'd have matching rifles so we could practice with the same thing, compare thoughts, switch out parts if z-day finally comes and we need to do so, etc so go out and get yourself an inexpensive Ruger 10/22, a cleaning kit and some ammo!

And everyone else should do the same. Just because. *nods sagely*

What else? I'm going to get Monster groomed today at PetSmart. The PetSmart job is going really well; I have two more days of training due to missing a day from snow and another day when my trainer hurt her ankle but then I start getting my own classes! Whoo!

How're things with you? Sorry I haven't been commenting much lately; I HAVE been reading. I've mostly just gotten home and sort of crashed on the couch or gone to bed. As I said, being on my feet for 8 hours is a new thing for me and it's really tiring.

Okay So...

Okay, so I woke up and took a shower. Now what? Time to go back to bed? No? Okay. I can live with that. I just need some time to wake up and be ready; three or four classes to teach today and as I understand it it's going to be all me with my trainer jumping in when she feels the need.

Did I mention I started training for a transcription position with the University last night?

Two jobs, both alike in pay, in fair Delaware where we lay our scene. From dopey dogs jump to quiet computer where civil tongues make conversation keen. From forth the workless world I was within, a pair of time-crossed jobs take my social life.

I love it though, as long as I can get a day off each week in which I can go crazy and do fun stuff. I need to make sure I find a balance that won't wear me out too quickly; I haven't had two jobs in, well, I don't know that I've ever really had two jobs at once. I'm afraid I'm going to get lost in the shuffle and become my jobs. Too many people do that, I think, and suffer because of it.

Leaving in 45 minutes at 7:30 to get to training that starts at 9. I could have taken the offer to stay in a hotel during training but then I would have seen Maria even less! No thank you. I'd like to see my wife at least 7 hours a week, you know?

On Sunday, my day off, I'll post another video post. Any requests? I can try to do just about anything and love being able to literally say hi.

Friday!

I'm having some delicious Cinnamon Toast Crunch for breakfast this morning; this stuff is awesome and makes my mouth tingle with delight. Or maybe it's just tasty. Either way, I'm a happy breakfast boy.

So, the State of the PetSmart address: My fellow Livejournallers; Today I step into the realm of PetSmart with my head held high. I have trained a class of beginners, helped an advanced class learn a new trick ("shame," which is, by the way, even more adorable when a Bulldog does it) and now, thanks to the generosity of my wonderful trainer Marci, I have a sold class under my belt.

I am here, on Livejournal, with you to give you a message, and it is this:

Yes. I. Can.

Thank you. Bless you. Thank you. Yes. Thank you.

Please forgive if I flood the market with videos. I will try to at the very least make them short and entertaining. I'm just trying to get used to the camera, use it and enjoy it.

Be gentle. It's just a quick "hello," wondering whether or not you're interested in seeing/hearing more of me in this way. Let me know either way?

I'm starting to get used to this whole "getting up in the morning" thing that most other people seem to do automatically. I'm finding my own rhythm, realizing that if I get as much sleep in a night as your average person, I'm going to wake up groggy and tired.

Why does that surprise me, when I've "learned" the same thing at least 20 times before now?

Seems like I'm a student of my own history, and I'm just not very good at it. I always talk about how I want to figure stuff out on my own, grasp the world by the horns, and just ride it. I'll figure out how to lose weight on my own. I'll learn how to start a business on my own. I'll...I'll...and on, and on.

But I forget, oh so easily.

So, a few things I need to remember about myself:

1) 7 hours of sleep a night is good. 6 1/2 is better.

2) I have to keep a food journal in order to lose weight, otherwise, I forget what I've had.

3) Working out in the morning actually gives me more energy during the day.

4) I like working out, or at least how I feel afterward.

5) I'm much better at learning than I think I am.

6) I am NOT a good sword fighter. No, seriously. Stop that thought right now.

So, there. 6 things I need to remember about me. Hopefully I'll remember, but if I had to guess I'd say you'll be seeing a post eerily similar to this one in about 4 to 6 months. Just a guess though.

Who Am I?

Some of you have never met me in real life, and only know me from my word here. Keeping that in mind, let me give you my vital stats:

Name: Jeremiah Fargo
Sex: Male
DOB: 2/22/1980
Height: 6' (or 5'11 1/2" if I'm being more honest)
Weight: Working on it.
Hair: Purple but normally blond
Siblings: Oldest, 2 sisters, 2 brothers
Distinguishing Marks: Mole on left side of chin, other than that you'd have to look pretty closely at my right knee to see a big scar.
Location: Newark, DE USA

Does any of this surprise you? Is there anything on this list about you that you think I might not know? If so, what?
jmfargo: (Default)
Too many people coast through their life, always wishing they had the ability to make it different, but never actually trying to get out there and change things. They seem to think that a big change in their life will destroy them, their friends, and their family. They've always wanted to do something big, but always been too afraid to actually make the changes that will get them to where they want to be.

More people need to grab onto life, and realize that just because you're poor, old, in a strange situation, these things don't mean you can't make changes. It might make them more difficult, emotionally, monetarily, physically, or what-have-you, but if you never actually try to make the changes, you'll stay in your rut.

Me? I'm getting in shape. I'm trying hard to be a better person to those around me. I'm starting cleaning up after myself. I'm going to college, and looking into starting another business. Things are good, things are changing. I think the important bit was when I realized that I wanted change, and figured out how to go about doing it.

Do you want a change? Why aren't you doing it then?
