Sometimes when I'm listening to phone calls (I'm a transcriptionist, so I hear a lot of them in a day) I get to hear bits and pieces of the news in the background. I hear things like "Michael Jackson is in critical" "Hello is anybody there?" Or sometimes I hear small snippets of a statement and it worries me, like yesterday when I heard in the background "meteorites are closing in on" *click*, and "strange attacks." I worry that, like in the movie Shaun of the Dead, I am getting snippets of what is to come, and yet not putting it all together.

Of course, it would help if I could watch any news channel on television, but we don't have cable, and this tv doesn't believe in the word "reception."

So I'm going back to work today, and I'm keeping an ear out for the news. Seems I'm more likely to hear Dr. Phill, or the theme song to the Andy Griffis Show, but I guess that's America, right?
