Cold air flows through the house as I write this, and the hum of electricity drones outside in a constant roar of air cooling. Okay, so it's not the electricity humming, but the machine itself, but that's okay - I'm trying to use imagery here.
Thank you
reverendfixxxer and
akdidge for your helpful advice on how to change the fuses without destroying my ability to use my arm. I was so stuck in "this is what happened last time" that I had trouble thinking about "this is what I could do differently."
The store told me they didn't carry the fuses that I brought in - they lied. I found them, and though they were marked $7.50 for two, they only cost $2.50*, so I bought four. Just in case this happens again.
$5.00 - much better than the $80 we paid last year to have someone come and look at it when all it turned out to be was the fuses. I need to start learning how to do more stuff around the house. It'll save money in the short run, and in the long run too if I learn how to do it well enough.
What skills should I tackle first that will help the most? Any ideas?
*And yes, they really did only cost $2.50 - being the guy I am I told the cashier that there might be a mix up and maybe we should check. They were mis-shelved under the wrong price. I didn't want to walk out feeling guilty over $10.
Thank you

The last time I tried that I got stuck in a repeating loop,
The last time I tried that I got stuck in a repeating loop,
The last time I tried that I got stuck in a repeating loop,
The last time I tried that I got stuck in a repeating loop,

The last time I tried that I got stuck in a repeating loop,
The last time I tried that I got stuck in a repeating loop,
so I vowed to never try to break the laws of nature again.

Date: 2006-07-17 12:25 pm (UTC)I would recommend getting this home repair bible that Home Depot sells, though. It describes common home maintenance problems and how to fix it yourself.
Wait, I just though of the most important skill of them all: knowing your own limitations. ;-)

Date: 2006-07-17 05:55 pm (UTC)My pipe is leaking water... follow the pipe to the nearest valve and shut it off, if water stops you went the right way, then replace the pipe. if you don't know how, have some one show you. Not they do it and you watch tv. you have to get into it, if a heater guy comes watch how he does this so you could do it in the future. Everything come down to common sense just make sure you get it like it was before the problem... I am prolly making this sound way to easy. you do have to use hard work and be willing to screw up a time or two.--Derek
