Three quick updates, and then I'm off to do my morning Wiirkout.

1) This is why I need an artist for my web comic idea:

A bad drawing of a man in a hat, leaning against a white background.

This picture, drawn by me, showcases the fact that I have NO idea what to do. Okay, you might point out that I've got the generalities right, that he has arms and legs, and a head, but what about hands? Or a freakin' face? Those two things are impossible for me to make look decent when I draw them.

Plus, that little sketch took me about 20 minutes. That's just sad.

2) I'm currently working on upgrading my zombie defense blog into something more than what it is. I'm wondering if Word Press might better suit my needs. Does anybody have experience with the free version?

3) My three favorite fantasy authors are Robin Hobb, Raymond Feist, and Jim Butcher. Terry Pratchett would be in there, but he's my favorite comedic author, so I wanted to make room for someone else.

I just thought you'd like to know something about me that you might not already have known. That, and I didn't actually have three things to say when I started, so I had to come up with something.

FTR, I LOOOOOVE Wordpress. It's highly customizable and looks vera nice. There are all kinds of spam filters, too. She's pretty shiny.

I'm pretty sure all I've ever used is the free version. I installed it on my old webpage but I think it was still the free version. Not sure.

I decided to go with the blog package offered through my web provider (http://www.1and1.com/?k_id=9766386), and come to find out, they use Wordpress! *laughs*

I'm still trying to figure out a bunch of stuff, like how to customize the look of the page itself, but it's pretty, and works well. I'm happy. :)

right there with you on Hobb and Feist, no idea on the last author, but I'd definitelyhave to go with the Eddings

Butcher does the Harry Dresden books that spawned a one-season-long series on Sci Fi. The books are MUCH better than the series, but if you're interested you can watch the show here (http://www.hulu.com/the-dresden-files).

Eddings was good, and I like his stuff, but I felt like he just kept recycling the same story from book to book. That's the reason why Terry Goodkind, author of The Sword of Truth series, didn't get on that list above Jim Butcher.

And yeah. Hobb and Feist are awesome. :)

I could help but I don't know if I can draw as well as you want...

Actually, I decided today that I'm going to go for it myself. It might not be in color, and it might not even be well drawn, but this idea has been trying to burst from my brains for a while now and I need to do something with it.

Granted, on strips where the action/subject is tough to draw, I may resort to stick figures, but c'est la vie! Of course, stick figures could be my shtick, but that has to be done VERY well to be pulled off properly, in my opinion.

Excellent! Great idea! (Besides your drawing isn't half bad! ^_^)

Well, I appreciate that, and can't lie and say that I didn't hope someone would say it, but that doesn't mean I think it's exactly true. :)

I AM drawing a lot today, trying to learn what I can in as quick a time as possible. Objects, animals, people, a vampire, whatever. They all look bad to me, but passable as a webcomic, considering what's already out there.

Now I just have to figure out how to get someone to look the same twice when I draw them. *laughs* I can't exactly have people walking around with labels on them. Can you see it? "This is Dan. Yes, I know, Dan wasn't Asian before, but that just happens to be how his eyes and face turned out this time around. It's still Dan."

LOL! That's the part I think I might have trouble with... BUT my daughter's been learning to draw (and surpassing me!), and she draws with formulas... that's the best way I can think to describe it... with ovals & circles & polygons, then fleshes them out. She's even started doing little comics too... Of course, she wants to write & illustrate children's books and she is well on her way! Oh, anyway, my point, maybe that's the key to getting them the same everytime? Formulas...

*nods* A formula's a good idea. If I had a tablet, one of those fancy "draw on me and the image appears on your computer" kind of tablets, then I think I'd have the problem solved since I could just save everyone and redo them how I have to while keeping the general image I'm going for, but since I'm doing everything free-hand at the moment I might have to try and figure out the formulas to getting everyone right.

Also, it's going to help when I flesh out the actual characters I'll be working on. Right now I'm just doing practice, essentially, and figuring stuff out. Next step is to actually work on the characters, get a few sketches of them set down, so that I'll have something to compare future drawings to.

Sorry, rambling. I'm not yet 100% sold on the idea that I can do this, but I'm definitely going to try it.

Just another rabbit to chase, I suppose. I've got about 7 right now. *sigh*

I had a wacom graphire, and the kids have some kind of tablet - well it's technically mine, but I don't use it too often and the mouse for the laptop died - they are definitely fun to work with! (And you might be able to find an old one online cheap?)

http://www.drawspace.com/ might help some too...

Comics like XKCD and Order of the Stick prove that you don't have to be a master doodler to present a good webcomic, so long as you have a good story/concept/idea.
